Anicka Yi: In Love with the World
South Korean artist Anicka Yi brings a huge imaginary installation into the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern. Yi’s installation is floating in the air, with the shapes like ocean life forms and mushrooms.
Yi's art creation always combines technology and biology. Nature, human, ecosystem are the core theme in her works. This installation also raises a question what is the future relationship between human and the ecosystem that we live in.
Anicka Yi was born in1971in the capital city of South Korea. Her works are based on artistic imagination and scientific research. The relationship between the present and the future is centred in a lot of her works. This includes the evolution of artificial intelligence, climate emergency and migration. She is known for the way her works activate the senses and for experimenting with unorthodox materials.
